Back from Disney! (I added some pics)

I was so anxious about traveling with my 6 month old DS and DH's family. We were a large group! All in all things were great! DS got a cold or was teething (???) and wasn't feeling well or sleeping well for the first few days. DH and I just vegged out at the resort while the family did Sea World and the guys played golf (DH went, too).

After all the stress about traveling I took the advice of the great moms on here. We flew Southwest from Islip and was pleasantly surprised about how easy it was. DS actually did very well on the plane! I bought a wheeled cover for my carseat and checked it. I also brought DS's big stroller (so he could nap) and gate checked it. I got a pnp from the resort and brought my own sheet. DH's cousin used a service I learned about here and rented a full size crib and linens.

We stayed at DH's cousin's timeshare -- Orange Lake Resort. It was GREAT for kids. DS was too little to know any better, but the 6 year old twins and 2 year old with us had a blast. The pools were so fun for everyone.... lazy river, water slides, water cannons....

We ate at some great restuarants that were pretty kid-friendly, too. Emril's Tchoup Chop at near Universal's City walk, Columbia in the town of Celebration, Roy's in Orlando. We also did the character breakfast on Friday morning at the Polynesian. I remember when I was a kid the characters spent much more time with each family. The kids had fun, just the same!

DS was a trooper and even napped at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios (formerlly MGM). THe Magic Kingdom was... well... MAGICAL! Again, I know DS won't remember it, but I certainly will. I have not been there since I was a kid and was with my family. I was so emotional during the parade, remembering how much I joy and happiness we experienced there when I was a child. I can't wait to take DS back when he's a little older. THe kids we were with had a blast, of course.

Thanks again for all the traveling advice. I actually feel very empowered now... like I can bring DS (almost) anywhere... but not before I recover. This vacation made me exhausted!

I'll post some disney pics later!

Re: Back from Disney!

Glad you had a great trip. I also own at Orange Lake, that place is perfect for the whole family. We usually only do one, maybe two, park days and stay at the resort the rest of the time.

I was so impressed with Orange Lake. And the guys really liked the golf there, too. Actually my FIL got a hole-in-one and my DH shot a 78 one day.

I would recommend Orange Lake to anyone!

What a week! It sounds like you guys had a great trip, too! I actually thought I recognized your beautiful DD in the elevator at the Polynesian on Friday morning. Then I thought I was seeing things. But, I guess it was possible, since you stayed there!

What time? Very possible we were in the elevators in the morning to get on the monorail to go to the MK. We were in the building next to the great ceremonial house so we were in the elevators a lot.

I think it was about 8:30. We were going upstairs to the character breakfast! I should have said something!
