Back from Sono (again) and she's still breech... and....(so what do you think?)
I have too much fluid?
Between 16-20oz
I was 23 last week and 22 this week.
I know they said last week I had lots of fluid but I just figured that was a good thing.. they told me today that the doc asked to check it again, which I knew too.. but not Why.
Apparently too much fluid can lead to pre-term labor
Add to that she's still breech..
hrm.
Just need her to wait until 8/22 or at the EARLIEST 8/21 after 12pm
Cause that's when my Dad gets here!
Otherwise, she's healthy so I'm really not overly concerned (should I be?)
Next Thurs I see the doc and we'll be most likely scheduling my C/S
ETA: maybe I'm stupid but.. I'm 36 weeks on Monday.. so she'd be a month early at worst case scenario. She's already over 5lbs. So am I being stupid to really not worry. I mean really, how bad can a premmie be at this point. She's pretty darn healthy and I would assume even now she can survive outside the womb. So I'm pretty calm about this stuff. I just want my Dad to be here. Am I being Naive or WAY lay back that all this news and all I can think is.. .. "whatever, just say when"

Re: Back from Sono (again) and she's still breech... and....(so what do you think?)
When Ed-lie was breech, DH and I decided that if she did not turn by the time I was 37 weeks, we would schedule a c-section for week 39. At 35 weeks, she turned. We held out as long as we could and our doc would have scheduled a c-section at any time if that was what we chose to do. We were not pushed. He would not have attempted a breech birth and we did NOT want to try to manually turn the baby - it was never an option for us.

At 36 weeks your baby should be just fine if you did go into labor. My OB is telling me that is the goal right now (I've been having lots of contractions). Anyway, as for the breech- I'm in the same boat. Baby is breech and they will schedule a c/s if he doesn't turn (or they will try to turn him with a version). Have you tried all those tricks to get her to turn? I haven't done anything yet, but I'm thinkig about it!! Maybe since the baby has some extra fluid there's more room for her to turn around?? Hopefully you don't go into preterm labor and baby will wait for grandpa to get here

Re: Back from Sono (again) and she's still breech... and....(so what do you think?)
Same thing happened to my friend (well minus the breech part) her OB said she had too much fluid on a Thursday and they would probably induce her – at that time they estimated the baby was over 5lbs as well. Well Monday she went into labor 5.5 weeks early. Baby boy was healthy 5.7lbs but needed to stay in NICU for about 10 days before they released him to go home. Now a month later he is fine!
DS was breech until about 35 weeks, then he turned on his own. If you schedule a c-section and you don’t necessarily want one you can request a sono is done like the day before to ensure he is still breech before having the surgery.
With that I had an amazing c-section birth because DS was 9lb 14oz on his due date. It was smooth - flawless, DS was perfect and I had a very easy recovery – I can saw with confidence that I wouldn’t/couldn’t have had an easier recovery if I had a v-birth. Part of which I attribute to the fact that I didn’t labor first, and the other part I say is because I let the nurses take care of DS at night for the 3 nights I was there and I slept so it allowed my body to heal. Obviously each person is different but that’s my take!

Re: Back from Sono (again) and she's still breech... and....(so what do you think?)
Thanks for the info!
I really don’t mind the C/S (flame on if you wish). I don’t care if its vaginal (though I must admit I’m terrified of it).
I all I care about is the fact that the baby is healthy and so am I, what else is there really?
The issue with scheduling my C/S is because my doc is on vacation the last two weeks of August and my 39th week is the 1st week of September. They really want to ‘schedule’ me as quickly as possible.
The high amount of fluid concerns them because although, yes she can flip since she sort of has more space, the action itself of flipping will be pretty dramatic and may actually send me into pre-term labor.
So in away my choices are:
#1 – Scheduled C/S and hope the fluids go down #2 – Normal Vaginal birth with possibility of pre-term labor (if she flips) #3 – Pre-term labor with baby in mid flip (which they say will be very painful and may end up with emergency C/S anyway)
Given the facts, everyone wants her to do one of the following: A) flip quietly and smoothly with the extra fluid B) Reduction in fluids and she stays put or flips (either way)

They (the docs/techs/etc) are more concerned with pre-term labor than C/S

Maybe she will turn. I would wait another week and then think about scheduling a C.
