Back on bed rest...

I feel like I've been on bed rest my entire pregnancy... I've bled off and on starting at 6 1/2 weeks and was put on bed rest before 8 1/2 weeks for over a month due to previa. Then I got 2 1/2 weeks off (of which 2 weeks I was away on vacation) and bled again while I was away. Aftter a trip to the ER which Thank God showed the babies were fine (but no one could determine the source of the bleed/clots) which left me bed resting for 1/2 of my trip (which was fine b/c I was so glad they were ok and worried)...
Had an appointment last monday when I came back and was told to "take it easy, stay home and rest as much as possible" which I did. Both babies looked great and were measuring perfectly though thankfully... they told me it was left over from the previa and chose now to come out...
Went to the dr yesterday (18 weeks) and all looked good... he didn't tell me I had to bed rest (I was so excited!) and then get home from appointment last night and pass another red clot. Chat Icon Chat Icon
I didn't panic since I had just seen them and all was good. Just took it easy the rest of the night, drank a lot of water and went to bed early, then called first thing this morning.
The nurse spoke to the dr and now I'm on strict bed rest... and they only started me back up on my lovenox yesterday after a week and a half of being off of it.... so now I am back in bed. If red bleeding continues I have to call him to determine if I stop lovenox again. If it gets worse I go back in so they can do a sono.
It took us SO long to get (and stay) pregnant. I just hoped it wouldn't be constant worry (more than just in my own head lol). As it is I'm nervous all the time that something bad is going to happen. I'm so thankful that all is ok even with the bed rest... but it's scary.
I was going to come out with my real screen name after my appointment yesterday and now I'm just nervous again. Sorry this got so long.. I figured there were other twin mommies that may have been through this and could relate... Chat Icon I always said I would stand on my head for 9 months if it meant at the end of the day I would have a baby so I guess this is an improvement lol. I just feel so helpless and worried... Chat Icon Ok, vent over...

Re: Back on bed rest...

It sucks.

Bed rest SUCKS!

I've been there ... from 16 weeks until I delivered at 31w6d, with 1 week on hospital bed rest at 24 weeks.

BUT ...

Every day you can keep them cooking is at least one more day they are not in the NICU.

The NICU sucks so much worse than bed rest Chat Icon

Chin up, you CAN do this!!!!!!

Thanks! Chat Icon I hate feeling like I'm complaining. I'm just so worried about them. Chat Icon and being on bed rest shifts my entire focus there constantly since I don't feel like I can do anything to get my mind off of it... I feel like we've come so far, yet know they're no where near viable still which terrifies me. Obviously I want them to stay in as long as possible but I wish the time b/t now and 24 weeks would hurry up lol... It's funny, I've been told how wonderful it is to be pregnant by family and friends and how it was the best experiences of their lives. I am thrilled to be pregnant, the morning sickness and all that comes with it-but they can keep it!!! I just want my kids to be here and healthy..it's times like this I wish I had a time machine lol. Chat Icon Chat Icon thank you for answering me- I'm sorry you had to go thru bed rest but its inspiring to know your kids are here and alls well! Chat Icon

They will be here before you know it and all of this will just be a memory. Bed rest was incredibly boring, but now it seems so long ago.Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm soooo sorry mama. I know how you feel. My pregnancy was a horrible experience. Always something to worry about. First they didn't think twin B would make it. Then there was a SCH which bled out at about 14 weeks. Cervix shortened at 20 weeks. Gestational diabetes and finally a C section at 35w6d for Pre-E. And people think that twin pregnancy is not considered high risk LOL

I went on modified bedrest at 20 weeks for a shortened cervix. Closed my business and hit the couch. I spent a lot of time reading, chatting on the phone with my friends, online shopping and watching TV. You are pretty much half way there and these weeks are going to pass. Just take it one week at a time and do whatever you have to to keep them cooking.

I remember all too well the panic and anxiety of those days, the daily prayers to the powers that be. It took us 2 years of infertility treatments to get PG and then another 35 weeks of a miserable pregnancy, but they got here. So just keep on keepin' on. Your miracles are almost here mama.

I also had a shortend cervix with unknown bleeding. Mine however started when I was 30 weeks. I had to get the steroid shots & was supposed to stay & relax a bit. I kept moving & still made it to 38 weeks... Since you are still in 2nd trimester....do what Dr says.
My guys now are 16months

Re: Back on bed rest...

I was on and off bed rest for a short cervix starting at 10 weeks. It sucked! But in the end it worked and I made it to 33w6d due to pre eclampsia. Once you meet your babies it will be a distant memory.
I am on my second (single pregnancy) now and I was terrified I would have to do it again...lucky enough I have had no issues.

Hang in there!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thank you! Thanks for the reinforcements that I can do this--- I can't believe how long I feel like I've been pg and I'm only about halfway there lol! I know if I was up and about it'd fly by, but that's ok... I keep telling myself I should rest now b/c once they get here I won't be!
