Back pain while running
Ever since I started running, I've been having lower back pain, but just on my right side. In fact, whenever something is sore after running, it is on the right side. I assume it is because I tend to pronate my right foot. I never noticed this when I ran outside a few years ago (I run on a treadmill now), but I was also running much slower. When I took 2 weeks off from exercise, I was pain free, so I know it is the running.
Anyone else experience this? Is there anything I can do for it? Should I go to one of those running stores to get specialized shoes?

Re: Back pain while running
I think you may need new sneakers. Besides that, doing lower back and hip exercises with definately help strengthen the areas that get sore.

Thanks!
Do you know of any exercises?
And do you think I need a new type of sneaker, or just a new pair? I got my last pair in January. But I only run 2.5 miles, so I didn't think they would wear out so quickly.

Re: Back pain while running
I would definately then say a new type of sneakers.
Exercises: squats lunges side lunges dead-lifts butt blasters all core stability exercises, like crunches on a stability ball, V-ups, etc.

Re: Back pain while running
Unfortunately running is very hard on your back...i had back surgery and I am no longer "allowed" to run. Running on a softer surface will help (that's why its not so bad on the treadmill). When I cheat and go running I run in the sand and it doesn't hurt. HTH
