I can't find my classroom....I'm not prepared.
There is some basis in reality on my very first day of teaching ever, my school gave me the wrong homeroom set of attendance cards! So here I am 22 yrs old calling a class of 8th graders and no one's respsonding 'here'. It really happened and that was my "OMG, what am I doing moment"
The correct set of cards was given to the teacher next door

I have the same one at least 4-5 times during the summer... I show up and think it's a planning day, and it's the first day of school. I don't know the schedule, don't have anything planned...
Oy! This year they started before the school year ended.

Oh yeah...I was just going to post about this. In my dreams the kids are always out of control and horrible children or I don't know my schedule/room and am not prepared and the bell is ringing. I dread going back to work

OMG I started last weekend! In one dream, my little 5th graders - in chorus- were really high schoolers and were so NASTY to me! Chorus gives me agita (sorry, I like to use that word- what I mean is anxiety ), what can I say- especially with the older kids because it becomes less 'cool.'
I also had a dream where a parent tried to interrupt a 3rd grade chorus rehearsal with some annoucement. I refused to let her- she was upset, she cried. Then I spoke to all the other parents and they said, "hey we didn't know there was a concert tomorrow!" Then I was like, "okay no need to put on the concert then!"
I wonder if my dream was telling me to not work my TTC plans around my stupid concerts!

I stopped having these dreams after my fourth year teaching (first 3 were in Catholic school and well, the nuns always gave me nightmares ).
The school was celebrating it's 40th anniversary it was here for 40 years before me and will continue to go on whether I'm there or not... whether I worry or not. Same reason why I no longer drag myself in when I'm sick. Not worth it. I no longer let school and the politics carry over into other areas of life. Actually, I really no longer talk about work outside of work.

I hear ya both and I've been told this many times...this is my tenure year and my concerts are a huge deal to me. I couldn't imagine not being there for my 4th graders when they go to Carnegie Hall. I'm sure administration would be fine- my principal is awesome. I just don't want to miss out on anything especially when I have all these exciting things going on. Talk about being torn.
