Backyard Wedding Help
My best friend is getting married in the backyard of his home. They want to keep it very low key and reasonably priced. He says hire someone to BBQ, she says wraps and sandwiches (afternoon wedding), and neither can agree. Both think the others idea is too casual.
Does anyone have any suggestions for food for a backyard wedding or any other tips?

Re: Backyard Wedding Help
i went to a backyard wedding and they had a professional come in to BBQ, they had steak, salmon, veggies. i thought it was great!!
i think sandwiches are too casual but i also think BBQ hamburgers and hotdogs is too casual. steak, fish, corn on the cob would be better IMO!

Re: Backyard Wedding Help
For our e-party I wanted an "upscale BBQ" -- it was in my parent's backyard. We used Guy Anthony's in Merrick (the party was in Farmingville, no extra change to drive far or anything). We had lamb, steak, chicken bruschetta, various salads, it was delicious! Why don't they do that and get sandwiches from there too - like paninis or nice sandwiches on foccacia? We also got the cake from there and the price was completely reasonable!

Re: Backyard Wedding Help
My FH and I are planning an "upscale BBQ" reception. Right now the front-runner for food is a lobster boil (with steak or grilled chicken for the non-seafood eaters) We were also thinking of having a nice raw/ shrimp bar. The wedding is going to be in the backyard of my mom's house. We both just want to relax and enjoy the day!
We are talking about having a tent and tables, and doing it up really nice with paper lanterns and nice flowers.
Just because it is a casual wedding doesn't mean it can't be nice!
