Bad day today - long
As some of you know my grandmother has been in the hospital - they "say" it was a mini stroke although they aren't sure (nice right). She also broke some ribs due to my grandfather attempting to get her off the floor after she went down when her BP skyrocketed.
Fast forward to today she got released so I went over with the kids b/c the kids ALWAYS make her feel better. My grandfather goes out to get some food in the house b/c I'm there. Well, she got her walker and was going to head into the bathroom - I was in the kitchen and I hear a crash.....my grandmother fell and she can't pick herself up.
I'm now alone, with 2 kids who are now visibly upset and an 86 year old woman who I can't lift or move. My grandmother is hysterical crying and I'm trying to keep my cool here in an attempt to keep her blood pressure down. I manage to get her to sit up against the wall and just talk to her to keep her calm - at this point she is having a hard time breathing b/c of the rib pain and she's crying b/c she doesn't want to live anymore, can't live like this and saying goodbye to me and she loves me. Tore my heart out.
At this point I tell her I have to call my parents b/c I have no idea when my grandfather is coming home and I cannot leave her on the floor and my kids are really getting upset now. I see she is getting worse, getting dizzy and nauseous so I call the ambulence.
The police and medics show up the same time as my parents and my mom sees the kids and says just to go and she'll call me. I then just took the kids to my inlaws and went to the hospital and sat in the lobby until I heard something. Unfortunately its now hours later and still no news other than it definitely wasn't another stroke.
My kids have been told that Grandma Gigi needed a special ride to the doctor b/c Grandpa wasn't home - honestly, I didn't know any other way b/c I'm trying to keep myself together. The kids THANK G_D are resilient and are ok with what I've told them.
I feel like for the past 2 weeks I've been on this emotional roller coaster. I'm trying to keep myself together, my business and clients taken care of and my kids and husband taken care of. I feel like I've aged about 20 years after today.
Could just use some prayers for us over here - thanks for reading.

Oh no, Lori I'm so sorry that this happened to you, especially with the kids. I will pray for you and your grandmother and your family. It's so scary to see something like that. When my grandfather passed away in October, something similar happened to my grandmother, only my dad was the only one in Florida with her and I know how hard it was for him to deal with. It's so stressful. Hang in there. I'm done with work on Thursday, so if you need anything, please let me know

Oh god, how awful!  I'm SOOO sorry... just try to remember what an incredible source of compassion and comfort you must be to your grandmother during all of this, and at the same time, what an incredible role model you are being to your children in taking such good, loving care of her!

OMG Lori - I had no idea. I am so sorry to hear about your grandma. I really hope she is ok. And how scary that must of been for the kids and you yesterday. I will call you tomorrow to see how things are going and if there is anything I can do please let me know.
We should be around all week - I will be home taking care of Paul and the kids and working so if you need to drop the kids off or just want to come by and hang we are here for you

Lori - I am in tears reading that. I don't even know what I would have done in that situation. It's so hard to see our grandparents get old and feel helpless because there is nothing we can do to help them.

You did everything you could, for your grandmother AND for your kids. You couldn't divide yourself in half, so you did what you could do. I'm sure your grandmother is proud of how you helped her.
