Bad Smell from Floors after cleaning service cleaned them

I use a cleaning service, and lately when they're done, the floors smell bad. And I've had this service for almost a year now, but only noticed it the last 2 times. It's not just me, my dh can smell it too. Smells something like dirty sponge?

I called them to ask if there was something else they can use, and the owner doesn't speak English completely well. She was telling me the mop they use is cleaned with every use. So I suggested they try the swiffer I have. But I have a lot of wood floors, I don't think this is the right direction to go in.

Does anyone know what the smell could be from, and why only my dh & I smell it & they don't? And what other options can we suggest.

They may need to clean out their equipment or change their filters

I know what smell you mean .. My job has the cleaning crew in nightly and they don't vacuum daily, but when they do, you know it was done from the smell.

If you're happy with them, and this is your only issue, I would maybe buy some rug powder (scented) and have them sprinkle it before working.

I see it was hardwood. I wonder if you could use a bit of essential oil?
