Bad vet visit

DH took the dogs yesterday to the vet for their routine annual visit. We are now going to Pet Smart. The vet said Holden, who is 4, has a heart murmur and collapsed trachea. She said we can monitor it for now, Holden should lose 2 pounds, and if it continues to look like he has these conditions, we can get an DKG. I called a friend's dad who is a vet for a 2nd opinion and he did not seem overly concerned about either condition and said both are common. However, DH & I were both super upset. Anyone have a dog with these conditions? What do you do to treat it? TIAChat Icon

One of pugs has a heart murmur, the vet told us the same thing, he said she is 7 yrs. old and it's pretty common condition, not to be too concerned. My husband and I were extremely worried when we found out, but it's been a year now and she is fine, we just brought her for her annual vet visit and everything was fine.

Thanks so much. It was upsetting to hear but I hope it sounds worse than it is.

2lbs is lot of weight for a little dog to be lugging around. we don't allow our dog any table food & he stays nice & lean!!
