Bagels vs Pizza-- 1st Bday Party @11AM

So, I am trying to decide what food to serve at Sasha's party.

The party starts at 11 AND it's the morning of Superbowl Sunday. Originally, I was just going to do pizza & chips because it's easier-- but, now I think bagels, etc. will be a better option because of the time and what people will probably eat the rest of the day, etc. Also, we can take home left overs, whereas pizza is going in the garbage.

So, I would get a fruit platter, crudite-- some sliced cheese and other bagel-y stuff-- maybe a cold cut platter too.

I also think this is better stuff for babies too-- since they can have a little of any of this stuff-- as opposed to chips, pizza, etc.-- I am not giving Sasha that stuff yet.

Any advice from BTDT moms?

I like the idea of the bagels. Especially if everyone is going to be eating that other stuff anyways the rest of the day.

We had an 11am party once and served bagels, whitefish, lox, etc., and everyone loved it!

I think that's fine. If we were starting Samantha's party an hour earlier, we would have gone with "brunchy" type food.

thanks-- so it's not a big deal about people "making" their own food?

And, if most of the people are parents-- they are up early and probably had breakfast already-- so, not a big deal that it's like double breakfast?

Bagels are good any time of the day, IMO!

how long is the party till?
i would choose pizza and you can serve it closer to 12/1230.

for my party, the start time was 3 pm but we served the food at 4pm. i put out animal crackers, goldfish and chex mix on each table for my guests to nosh on.
also, there might be a lot of late comers..
in your case, by the time the party really starts getting going it will be 12, which is lunch time..

if you are doing the bagel route, i would have some cold cuts out too so that people can make sandwiches out of them..

If you have mainly adults, I'd do bagels. But if it is mainly kids with their parents, I'd do pizza

My DS hates bagels though (freak)

Bagels, definitely! Especially given that it's Super Bowl Sunday, many people will be having pizza/wings/snacks later in the day. And I think it's still fine with bagels even if people already had breakfast...I could eat 10 bagels a day if I allowed myself

I would do bagels - kids love them and people may be eating pizza later for the game.

I would do bagels. I went to a party where they had pizza for the kids and bagels for the adults, but most kids wanted the bagels instead!

I would do the bagels. My nephew had his birthday party at 10 AM. They served the pizza at 11:00 and I remember feeling weird eating pizza at that time of day.

if they served bagels/fruit/crudites it would have been much more appealing to me IMO.

I love bages any time of day, but am wondering what time you think you'd be eating? If it's not until an hour or so after people arrive, maybe pizza for lunch may be a better idea? If you will be serving as people show up or closer to 11 the bagels would be a better choice

the way the party is structured-- the food will be "served" at 12-- but, I was thinking if it was bagels, I could have them put out, and then the lunch break would be for the kids, and of course the cake, and the adults could eat whenever.

True! Do bagels and make fruit cabobs (kids love these) and they go good with bagels!
