ballet class

How do you know if your child should be pulled out of an extra class? DD is 4 and takes ballet after school on Tuesdays. But most times before we get there she doesn't want to go. I do think it's a long day for her as she is in school from 9-3:10 but I think it's good for her to be in an orgaized activity with other kids. Today she cried for the last 15 minutes because she didn't want to do the tap part of the class. I pay alot for it each month and will soon have to shell out $85 for a recital outfit and certainly do NOT want to do that if she doesn't truly like it.

So how much is it of just her whining and she needs to deal, or she really doesn't like it? And how do you tell???

Re: ballet class

At 4, she is more than likely exhausted after such a long day at school. I would consider either putting her in a Saturday class or taking her out till she is more used to such a long school day.

I agree. There is a lot of whining at 4...when she's in elementary school it will be more because her friends are doing it.

Re: ballet class

I agree w/ the above posters too. I teach 4's & we only go from 9-1 & most are tired by that time. Also it sounds as if she's not truly enjoying it, probably b/c she's so tired. There's always next year.

Re: ballet class

I would definitely move her to a Saturday class...SD is in Saturday ballet and loves it, but I can't imagine her going after a full day of school.
