We had our injection class today
I totally did not know that one of the injections is an inch and a half long needle that goes in my A$$ cheek! When I saw that thing I was like Ugh, all the info that they gave us this morning was so overwhelming. I had a splitting headache when I got home. I told DH I want a huge bouquet of flowers when this is all over!
I also had to do the mock embryo transfer. It wasn't too bad but I felt more crampiness with this than with the HSG. It still was tolerable though but I'm glad it's over.
I'm not looking forward to getting stuck in my belly in the morning though But at least there's no warning that you can't drink while on this medication, because oh will I be drinking....

I am impressed that they give you so much info ahead of time. What is the mock embryo transfer?

I don't really understand it, but they have to do some kind of measurement so that when they transfer the embryos for real they'll know exactly where to place the catheter in the uterus (the catheter is a long skinny tube that will have the embryos in it). The doctor put the catheter in today and then took some sonogram pictures of my uterus and took some measurements.

Re: We had our injection class today
Thats exactly it. They are measuring and deciding which catheter they will need to use at transfer. Makes every go smoothly on that day, no surprises
Don't worry about the big intramuscular needle. It looks scary, and sometimes I still get nervous, but it really never hurts. In fact, I hardly feel it at all. It does get sore the next day, so make sure you rub it to disperse the oil afterwards.

Re: We had our injection class today
I have heard that most shots are fine but that the PIO can be quite tender the next day. I wish you the most luck in the world. It's easier than it seems!
