Balloon Box for gender reveal on Wednesday
DH and I decided that we will NOT be finding out the sex at the ultrasound on Wednesday. We're going to find out with the family that night. We're doing a balloon release and I plan to decorate the box tonight and then take it to Party City on Wednesday after the ultrasound to have them fill it with balloons.
So my question is....we're using a box from a printer. It's not plain cardboard on the outside (its color printed). I need some easy, cute ideas on how to decorate it.
Also, for those of you who have done this...did the balloons come right out when you opened it? I saw someone's video posted on FB a few months ago and she had to literally pull the balloons up out of the box when she opened the top. They didnt float up on their own.

Re: Balloon Box for gender reveal on Wednesday
We didn't do this, but I have seen boxes decorated with big blue and pink question marks. And I've seen video where the balloons did come right out, but I don't have first hand experience.
I love your idea though!! I hope you have a great time and can't wait to hear about it!

Re: Balloon Box for gender reveal on Wednesday
Personally, I would get a bigger box. Home Depot & Lowe's sell them for really cheap and you could decorate that.
I think the key to having them float up is to not overstuff the box with balloons. I'd just make sure that you tell the party store that you want to MAKE SURE that they float up and out
If you really want to use the printer box, maybe buy some gender neutral wrapping paper, wrap it and then decorate that with blue and pink question marks, hearts, baby feet, whatever is easiest

Thanks! The box is a lot bigger than a tabletop printer...it's probably about mid-thigh in height, but I agree that a little taller might be better for the balloons. I'll swing by Home Depot on my lunch break and see what I can find. Lowes only had short ones yesterday.

Re: Balloon Box for gender reveal on Wednesday
just make sure they fill them with helium, and they should fly straight up. My SIL did this for their gender reveal and they had no problems with their balloons coming out of the box.

We did this for ours, but I knew the gender so I filled the box. I actually used a rubbermaid storage container b/c we didn't have any boxes. I tested it a few times and I agree that you can't overstuff the box. You don't really need that many balloons to get the idea anyway

I didn't do this but I would get blue and pink construction paper and a glue stick, then just paste them on in a patchwork pattern. Random is best!

Balloon Box for gender reveal on Wednesday
My friend made mine- she wrapped it in wrapping paper then added cute little signs on it. We had party city put a weight on the end of the balloon strings so it would they would pop out but not fly away so we could take pictures with it. Have fun tonight with yours !

Balloon Box for gender reveal on Wednesday
I did my gender reveal this way. I wrapped the box in baby wrapping paper and decorated the outside. The box had pink and blue hearts and said Pink or Blue??? When we opened it the balloons didn't all fly right out I did have to do a little bit of scooping them out so my advice would be don't over stuff the box. If they are kinda floating around in there I think they will fly right out.
