Bank of America - UFT mortgages
If anyone works for BOA and knows about the mortgages offered for UFT members, can you FM me?
Apparently no one at BOA knows what I am talking about - even though its on the UFT website

Re: Bank of America - UFT mortgages
I can't help, but just some advice BOA bought out my old Fleet mortgage on my co-op and they were horrible to deal with when the sale went to closing. I would recommend trying any other bank that offers to UFT members.

Re: Bank of America - UFT mortgages
Just calling BOA and talking to someone (where the first words out of my mouth were the UFT program) and finally after 20 minutes she is offering me the other teacher program - it ends up she has no idea what I am talking about.
The BOA one is the only one we would qualify for. But thanks for the advice.

Don't know about Bank of America, but Wamu offers special programs for teachers for mortgages and they are donating money to DebG if you get a mortgage through them. Their info is on the FHF board.

thanks - I don't want the regualr "neighborhood helper" or whatever the banks call it - because everywhre I call - we are better off in a regular product. The specific UFT product is amazing - i think thats why no one wants to discuss it, lol.

Re: Bank of America - UFT mortgages
what about checking out the teachers federal credit union
all you need to get a mortgage there is $50 in a bank account
my Dad always had good luck with them- and they gave him a better deal then even Jake could pull off at the time!

he's a city teacher - the TFCU website says you have to be a suffolk teacher.
and I live in Nassau - and his town isnt in the "eligible town" list.

I think the UFT has their own crapola credit union - but its a PITA because we dont live in the city.
I am in the Nassau Educators FCU. (my grandmother is a librarian and we have the same address, thats how i got in)
but im not impressed with their rates.
thanks for the help though!

Re: Bank of America - UFT mortgages
We did it, if it's the same program it's called Neighborhood Champions. It took a while for us to find someone at BofA who knew about it.
ET add a link: BofA NC

Re: Bank of America - UFT mortgages
Your DH can join the Municipal Credit Union, which is for all NYC employees. However, they are a disaster with mortgages. Luckily I learned almost immediately and was able to go elsewhere.
I got my mortgage through the UFT and GMAC Mortgage. I worked with a woman named Kim Moscovic. She was great and everything went smoothly.
I am being observed tomorrow and have to head off to do some work now, but if you want I can see if I have her info around somewhere and fm you.

Re: Bank of America - UFT mortgages
We got ours through bank of america. It worked out very well for us. However, I am in the uft and I didn't get it through whatever the uft offers. I did get a 6.7% rate that at the time was good but anyway, they didn't charge PMI. All the places I had called listed with the UFT were all crap. I asked a few girls at work too who said don't even bother. If you want the BOA number let me know. Good luck!

I finally found someone who knew what I was talking about - its not thru the UFT- but they mention it on the website - but it sounds like what you have
