Baptism q re: donation to church/priest
We had a private baptism in our church with a priest from a different parish. No one mentioned anything about donations. I was expecting an envelope or something but nothing. What is typically done? Should I bring in a donationand if so how much? Also, how much is typical to give to the priest? We are taking him out to dinner but also want to give a gift. TIA

Re: Baptism q re: donation to church/priest
Hi, your situation is a bit different b/c the priest is from an outside church. We got an envelope from our church & it said $25. donation suggested. We ended up giving $75 or $100, yet I believe that goes to the church (not the priest--not sure)
If you are taking your priest out to dinner, I would think that is all you need to do. OR after the fact I'd get him a picture of him baptising your child & put it in a nice frame.

I would just make a donation to the church - you can give it in an envelope afterwards - we tried to give our priest something but he refused it. Ours was done at a regular service though - but DD was the only baby baptized - our church doesn't make any sort of suggestions either - FM me if you want to know what we donated.
