"barefoot" running shoes?
DH's uncle got me Virbram FiveFingers for Christmas. Does anyone have these/use them for running? I have to make a podiatrist appointment anyway, so I might hold off and ask him about them before I use them to run. Just wondering if anyone has any feedback...

my aunt's fiancée used to sell them. he said its just makes you feel like you're running barefoot. there is no cushion. personally i dont get it, but some people like that feeling.

Yeah, at first I thought it was such a cool and unique gift, but then I put them on and they definitely felt weird. I'm not sure I could imagine actually running in them.

Re: "barefoot" running shoes?
Some people actually say its better for their feet!
If you have time go to Runner's World and do a search. There's a lot of information there about minimilist running shoes.

Re: "barefoot" running shoes?
my husband has them and loves them. H doesn't run so I can't speak about that purpose specifically but he really likes the feeling of just walking around in them. I tried them on and didn't like them. I think they feel funny and I had a hard time getting my toes in the right place.

i think its something you need to get used to running in. i would start off running a mile and then up it everytime you go out. they definitely dont have much stability, but id try them out. its all about minimalist running. check out barefoot running book.

Re: "barefoot" running shoes?
I hear good things about them. I have seen people using them in marathons even.
I have Plantar fasciitis, so I can', but if I didn't, I would probably try them.

My husband loves his and ran a few races in them... I don't have the running ones... More the casual ones for after workouts. I like to hem!

I've heard people who love them, people who hate them.
I used to run in the Nike Free (which is minimal support). They really did a number on my feet during the marathon!
"They" say that natural running is the best, that you shouldn't have too much messing with your natural movement anyway (like the shox and air and supposed support sneakers). But, I think tha tyou have to be a pretty structured runner to successfully use the "barefoot" running shoes. You should have very natural form and most of us don't.
