Basic colors...
What are the colors called that you paint the trim and walls in if you're using the standard new house/apartment colors? We want to paint a lot of the house with just the standard colors. We heard not to use a plain white on the trim and to use an eggshell color on the walls? Does this sound right? I'm so clueless when it comes to colors. Would you use an offwhite for trim and doors and then an eggshell color for the walls or is it basically the same color? AAAaaahh!!! I need some help! Thanks!

Re: Basic colors...
I think they are referring to eggshell in regard to the paint finish (flat, satin, etc).
We didn't paint our trim yet, but we planned to do it a bright white...

Re: Basic colors...
What you heard is correct, the finish on the color looks nice in eggshell if your walls are in good/excellent condition, if not just use flat paint for the walls.
As for colors, look at the card of whites or beiges and see what you like. I did Navajo White in Eggshell finish for a lot of my walls, but there are a lot of nice colors like Antique White or Decorators White.
For the ceiling, use Ceiling White in Flat finish.
For the trim, use Super White or Bright White in Semi Gloss finish. The colors I used were by Benjamine Moore - I think that BM is a good paint brand.
