BASSINET/CRADLE - Do/Did you have one? -- I have more than 1 question
How long did you use it for? What did you do with it after?
I wanted one and then my DH convinced me that we won't need one -- it would be a waste. But now I'm thinking I might need one (plus my sisters wanted to get me one), because we're not having the furniture delivered until the baby arrives. The store said they might be able to deliver it when we need it, but they also said they might not -- it might take a few days.
....so I'm thinking I need to put the baby somewhere to sleep! My mom suggested that I used it until the baby comes and then use it in the basement, when I'm down there doing laundry and the baby could stay there.
Here are some bassinets that I thought were cute, what do you think? Anyone use these, what's your experience?
Do I need to get a mattress?

not a mom yet but I have all of my stuff already and we are not getting one. Its not really worth the money because the baby will be out of it by the time they are 30 lbs. Most moms that I have talked to have used a Pack and Play because this way once the bassinet is useless the playpen is still useful!!! JMO... but I just don't think its worth it.

Re: BASSINET/CRADLE - Do/Did you have one? -- I have more than 1 question
DS (first born) was in a bassinet the first week after we got home and that was the longest week of my life! I am a light sleeper and this was my first child, so I would wake up whenever I'd hear any sigh, grunt, cough, fart, you name it! He was put into his crib after the first week and DD, went into her crib on day 1. so will #3. As for having another place for the baby to sleep, I had my PNP set up and used that as a bassinet. It worked beautifully if I was downstairs and I wanted to lay the baby down in there and not upstairs.

Re: BASSINET/CRADLE - Do/Did you have one? -- I have more than 1 question
We got a bassinet for the first few months when is sleeping in our room. We have the pack and play downstairs for afternoon naps. I am a bit high strung I guess, I like having a few baby things in each room of our house, that way no matter where we are we have something to do with him

Re: BASSINET/CRADLE - Do/Did you have one? -- I have more than 1 question
We are sort of in the same boat as you - except we haven't even ordered the crib yet! Regardless, I don't want the baby in the nursery for the first few months and would like to have in a bassinet next to the bed to make it easier for middle of the night feedings. We registered and received the Cuddle 'N Care Rocking Bassinet with Light Vibes Mobile (your third picture). We put it together this past weekend and I love it. I bought the 14X29 Bassinet Pad by Simmons from BRU (it was $17) and it fits PERFECTLY in the bassinet - no spaces or anything. I love the height of the bassinet - I am 6 feet tall and I don't have to hunch too low to reach in - and it's not too high from the bed either. I can't wait for to get here to really use it!

Re: BASSINET/CRADLE - Do/Did you have one? -- I have more than 1 question
I will be using one only because it is being passed down to me..........my Mom, aunts & uncle slept in it, myself & my brothers & sisters & all my cousins too!!
My will be the 3rd generation of babies to use it!
Otherwise, I would not get one & would have use my pack & play.
But if you want one, I think your first one posted is beautiful

Re: BASSINET/CRADLE - Do/Did you have one? -- I have more than 1 question
My dd hated the bassinet and was in her crib within a week. With this baby, I am getting a Moses basket and I'm hoping that will work out. Like some of the pp have said, use the bassinet in the p&p or I would borrow a bassinet from someone.

Re: BASSINET/CRADLE - Do/Did you have one? -- I have more than 1 question
For DS, I had a bassinet and used it for the first 2 months when DS slept in our room. Our pack and play was downstairs for naps.
We'll do the same thing with this baby. The PNP is great too but we have a multi level house so we need something on every floor.
I had the same situation as you with the furniture. It was being delivered around the same time DS was suppose to be born. Well, DS was 4 weeks early!!! So, we didn't even get his furniture until he was a month old.
I love the first bassinet you picked out.
Oh, and after we were done with it, we loaned it to my sister who has since given it back to me so I can use with DC #2. I'm sure when I'm done with it this time, it will go back to my sister.

Re: BASSINET/CRADLE - Do/Did you have one? -- I have more than 1 question
I had one, but only because I borrowed one. I wouldn't have bought one, I would have just used the bassinet in the pack and play or put him in the crib from the beginning. We moved him at 8 weeks and I slept a lot better once he was out of our room.
To answer your other questions, we will return the bassinet to the owner, and I like the 2nd one you posted.

Re: BASSINET/CRADLE - Do/Did you have one? -- I have more than 1 question
We have the bassinet in our room and a pnp in the den. I have the third one on your list...DD seems to love it. Now that she is 6 weeks she can focus on the mobile with the lights and that keeps her occupied until she falls asleep. The vibrate button is like s snooze button for us when she wakes up! The down side to it is that it is noisy so if YOU are a light sleeper it is a problem.
Personally I am just more comfotable with DD in my room when she is so little. DH is dying to move her into her crib but I am just not ready yet.
