Bassinet question..
I put together the bassinet my mother bought my sis 7 years ago, she has never used it with any of her kids..(they just wouldnt sleep in it)..
Im kinda nervous as it gets closer. Its like the old school kind, it looks like wicker, but its not really. It seems more like a cardboard and very flimsy.. I know it defiantly needs a new mattress, b/c it seems so thin and nothing to it..
should i just suck it up and pay for a new bassinet that she may not even want to sleep in, or just use the one i have with a new mattress???

Re: Bassinet question..
Do you really want to use a bassinet? You could just use the crib. I'm not trying to be snippy or anything but I never saw the need for a bassinet. I don't think I would spend the additional $$$ on it.

Re: Bassinet question..
I used the one my mother used for us (25 years ago) for my daughter...I bought a new mattress for it...it definitely isn't as sturdy as my crib, but as soon as my daughter was able to rock it , I moved her to the crib

I was just going to put her in the crib, but i plan on breastfeeding and at the breastfeeding class they suggested the baby be in your room for the first 4-6 weeks.. I just thought it would be easier to have her in the room for that. Plus i had a bassinet already.

Re: Bassinet question..
For my first daughter I used the bassinet of the pack n play, for my second I just bought the arms reach co-sleeper. You are going to be nervous enough without worrying about whether her bed is sturdy enough -- I'd get a new one.

Re: Bassinet question..
Do you have a pack n play w/ the bassinet? I would use that if your nervous.
Otherwise grab one at BRU. They are not to expensive.

Re: Bassinet question..
I would probably just pick up a new mattress at BRU and try it out.

I agree. I am using a family bassinett that is probably 40 years old. Even though I plan on BF I dont plan on using the basinett too long.
I would try this one out, your child may dislike it, you may dislike having them in the room. If you still feel its unsafe, you can use the PNP basinett.
