Bathtub Installation X-Post

Any idea how much this might cost? Installing a new shower head in our bathroom revealed a pipe that needed replacing in the walls, so we figured at this point let’s redo the bathroom. The problem is our tub is pepto bismol pink. we were toying with the idea of refinishing the tub but there are some rust spots and I’m not sure if it would be easier/more economical to just get a new one. The same tub we have now is $150 at Home Depot in white, but We’ll need someone to install. We’re planning to do all the demo and the rest of the updates ourselves (new sheet rock, vanity, tiles, toilet, etc) so if it’s something we COULD do ourselves, we’re willing to try. Just wanted to hear from someone who has BTDT.
ETA: And if anyone could recommend a contractor/plumber in the Lynbrook area I would be much obliged!

Thank you!! DH is convinces it’s going to be like $1k to do the tub only. was it hard to do the installation yourself? I don’t mind paying to have someone hook it up, because I felt like we definitely could do the install ourselves. Plus DH knows how to hook up the toilet and sink- he recently did my parents so it’s literally only the tub.

I would replace the tub unless you can somehow work with the pink lol. My dad has his refinished about 10 yrs ago and it has been a nightmare. It chips, he had to have it refinished again a few years in. You have to be very cautious what you use to clean it, Can’t leave anything in Or on the tub. I can’t imagine what that would be like with kids lol....

Dh installed my new tub himself. It was a massive pain in the asss but only because he ran into trouble leveling it in the cement he laid it in. He also plumbed it up himself. If you are super handy though, it can be done yourself. If not, I'd hire someone

Definitely replace the tub unless you want to refinish it every year. They chip very easily.
