be honest. Do I NEED a steam mop for my floors?
I can't take Swiftering anymore. I just can't. I feel it pushes the dirt around.
Is a steam mop going to change my life? Which is the very best?

ita with what you said about the swiffer. I bought a steam mop but sadly it is still in the box-brand new and unused. I just get a bucket of water and rag and wash by hand. I don't even trust that a mop is doing its job. I feel that it too pushes around dirt. I use swiffer in between weekly washings. Wanna buy my steamer?

For wood floors or tile?
I only steam my tile floors and yes, I feel nothing cleans them like the steam does.
As far as hardwood, I'm terrified to use the steam mop. I used it once, and then I started to freak out.
On my wood floors, I use the Bona mop. It also gives it a pretty shine.

ITA! You still have to vacuum first if your gonna use the steam mop. I do the swiffer in between weekly washes and the same for the steam mop. Weekly I do the floors on hands and knees.

I'm not a fan of the steamer. I use it for inbetween washings (after I sweep and dry swiffer) otherwise it just pushes the dirt/crumbs around. I like a good bleach/water mix and a mop to clean my floors.

I soak my steamer cloth in bleach first; and then steam mop away.
Gotta still incorporate the bleach!

that's a brilliant idea!!
i have tile in the foyer and kitchen and bathrooms and pergo everywhere else
i will not use the steamer on the pergo, obviously.. just the tile.......but i have big areas to do, thus my desire for a steamer!
plus, the tile isn't smooth.. it's got that slate rocky design to it.

Re: be honest. Do I NEED a steam mop for my floors?
i vaccuum the tile and the wood once or twice a week and always before mopping. I used the steam mop on my tile, but i am scared to use it on the wood. I actually bought for the wood, then called my floor guy and he said not to use it on the wood. I used warm water with a splash of non-sudsy amonia on wood.

Re: be honest. Do I NEED a steam mop for my floors?
I love my steamer!! It def gets my floor cleaner than when I used the wet jet. I do have to vacuum before, but I would think that's the same with any mopping.
I live in a apartment, so that may be why I wasn't nervous - but I have all real hardwood floors and the steamer has not affected the wood at all.

Re: be honest. Do I NEED a steam mop for my floors?
You cant just swiffer and not clean the floors. You should use a swiffer sweeper vac and then a steam mop. I use a steam mop on my vinyl floors after I swiffer. On the wood floors I use the Bona...

I have the steam mop and I love it! I think it gets my tile cleaner than anything else I have used.

I use it on all my floors! I always sweep, vaccuum then steam mop the kitchen & bathrooms. The wood floors I dry swiffer then steam mop.

I actually use both. I swifer wetjet 1-2 times a week, but I steam mop my floors once a month.

Re: be honest. Do I NEED a steam mop for my floors?
i hear steam mops are good for the grout...is that true?
i always use a mop and lysol floor cleaner...but maybe steam mop is better for the tile and will make the grout look lighter?

Re: be honest. Do I NEED a steam mop for my floors?
I knew the first time I cleaned the floors right after we bought the house that I needed to get something better than the swiffer. I have the Shark (newer model) steamer. I use it on my laminate floors and tile. I sweep first then mop.

I hate my steam mop. Bleh...nothing like an old fashioned scrubbing on my tile floors...

Re: be honest. Do I NEED a steam mop for my floors?
Our old house had white tile in the kitchen, NOTHING cleaned it as well as the steamer, yes you have to vacum before but I love my steamer...I'm a bit hesitant to use it on my wood floors, but probably will in the new house

Oooh, does that work for hardwood floors? I love my steam mop. I just did it a few minutes ago. I got a ton of dirt up off the floors. I always vacuum first to get crumbs, cat hair, and birdseed
