Beach house rentals similar to those in OBX, NC
My family and I love the OBX. We'll be spending a week there next month.
But it is a pain in the a$$ drive.
Are there any other areas where you can rent such huge and beautiful houses right on the beach that are a little closer to NY?
We're renting an 8-bedroom home with a private pool and elevator, right on the beach in the OBX, but for future trips I wouldn't mind trying an area a little closer.
I've researched Delaware beaches and even Jersey and I can't find anything on the level of OBX beach homes.
We go as a large group, so I don't want anything small or bungalow-like, which is mostly what I'm finding in other areas.
Anyone have any recommendations?

Never been to obx to compare, but my family just rented a 7 br on Block Island. There were several 4-6 bedrooms that we looked at that were beautiful too. We're not going until Sept but I'm definitely looking forward to it! I don't know how prices compare but the houses are not cheap and most have a 7 night minimum.

I have never been there but a friend of mine loves Long Beach Island off New Jersey. From what she describes it is similar to the Outerbanks but maybe a bit more affluent. Definitely worth looking into.

There are def large houses on LBI. You will probably not get an elevator but I'm sure that is a rarity most places.
I would think harvey cedars and loveladies on LBI would be the towns to check.

And the elevator isn't a must-have, but definitely is appreciated by my 90-year-old grandma.

I just looked on VRBO real qucik and there are houses in LL on LBI that sleep 12 to up to 20. most are ocean or bay front nto many have pools but that inst something that most houses have on the shore.
I grew up spendign summers on LBI so let me know if you have questions

ETA: I did a quick search on Homeaway of the Delaware Beaches and found a home with an elevator! Link
