Family/Infant friendly beach house rentals? Need suggestions!
We are looking to rent a beach house for a weekend sometime in August. No clue at all where to look and what is good. Anything within 2 hour drive from the city. Jersey shore, or east end LI, what do you recommend? Where to look? Who to contact? etc etc.
Just something that would be comfortable with a 5-6m old. Nothing overboard, but we can splurge a little. It will be our first family trip and I'm so excited!
Suggestions?

Sometimes the local realtors have listings for rentals. Spring Lake in Jersey (just south of Belmar) has really nice homes.

We are big fans of Fire Island. There is no crazy traffic to get there and even though it is so close to us we feel like we are hundreds of miles of away. We have stayed in Kissmitt. Very family friendly, no cars and never too crowded.
Only downside is there is no shopping and 1 restaurant & 1 bar. But you can go to the bigger island, Ocean Beach and get more a variety.

I always check craigslist, they have tons of vacation house rentals.
Also try VRBO.com, cybberrentals and homeaway.com
A lot of places might be booked but there are cancellations etc.
Good luck !

looks like we'll probably to a resort/condo type place instead, this is such a chore to find something still avail.
And the thought of cooking on vacation is becoming less and less appealing to me.

I would 2nd FI, but you may have trouble getting a place there. i would definitely go to Ocean Beach as it is more family firendly. You could also do Kismet
