Beach moms - what are your essentials?
This will be my first summer at the beach with DS, who just turned 1.
What are the essentials I need other than beach toys?
Do I need a stroller for him to sleep in, and to help carry all the stuff? if so, what kind do you recommend? I'm assuming something with big wheels?
Wagon? what do you recommend. We will be taking our boat to Atlantique and hopefully taking occasional walks over to have lunch at Ocean Beach.
He's too big for the bjorn, but we got one of those backpack carriers for DH to wear.
Any suggestions?

Re: Beach moms - what are your essentials?
We belong to a beach club, so they have cabana boys and girls to bring your stuff down to the beach and set it up for you (awesome perk!!), but I am getting an all terrain stroller for DD to bring her on the beach and for her to take naps in. I think I am getting a Jeep Liberty Stroller next time I get my hands on a coupon. It's inexpensive and one of my friends got one last year and liked using it for the beach.
One Step Ahead has some great beach products and some of them you can find cheaper elsewhere. I forget where but I saw a beach bag where the sand goes through it and doesn't collect inside. I need to find it again and buy it!!
I think I am going to get some type of tent as well. Not sure yet though. I may try an umbrella first before getting a tent.
This is the tent I am thinking about
I have heard tons of good things about this CART

We have a similar tent, but it has 3 sides and it is great.
Besides that I really think we just need some toys and a lot of liquids and snacks.
We don't bring too much b/c we have a huge flight of stairs to walk down.

Re: Beach moms - what are your essentials?
We are a Boating family too I always brought my Mei Tei carrier and was able to carry DC until they were around 2. We would leave an umbrella stroller on the boat but rarely used. The tent we only used a few times and that was before DC was walking. A wagon is a great idea too.

Re: Beach moms - what are your essentials?
You should get the wonder wheeler!! It holds so much, you can fit up to 4 beach chairs and it is easy to push on the sand! When DS was 10 months we were at the beach every weekend. I broughth is pack/play with toys and he would play for hours. I also attached the umbrella to the pack'play which covered the entire area. Baby powder is a definite as well!

Yes!! Last year one of the moms suggested this to me and I use it after every visit to the beach!!
Other things I always bring are a hat for DD, sunblock, tons of toys and a chair that has a little umbrella.
