FL to NY for the holidays (2.5 hour flight).
DD will be 16 months.

Two options at the price we want so we can use our points:

Dec 23rd 9:50pm
Dec 24th 6:00am

Make a decision womanChat Icon glad to know I am not the only procrastinator out there!!

For this one you are going to be screwed either way as you will have to be at the airport no later than 5am so depending on how far away you are from the airport in FL you will have to wake your little one up really early anyway so for these choices i would go with the late flight on the 23rd - that way you wake up in NY for christmas eve and you can start your holidays!

for the same reasons as above, I'd go with the nighttime flight on the 23rd.

I'd go with the 6am flight. I took an early flight to FL and a late flight back this summer (DS was 17 months). The earlier was easier. I woke up DS as close to last minute as possible. I actually went with a 4 children, and in my situation, people seemed to be very tolerant of fussiness and loudness in the morning rather than nighttime.

Thanks, DH originally wanted the PM flight now he switched and is telling me he thinks the AM flight is better. Ugh, I wish he would just agree to DRIVE! Chat Icon

Neither are great - but I hate to say it but I would take the night flight. The closer you are to the holiday the more problems you could incur. It gives you some leeway if there are any problems.

I would take the am flight....it is less likely to be backed up. The chances of actually leaving on time at 9:50pm are SLIM........ you would be getting into NY very very late. I would rather wake dc up early, let them sleep in the car, and on the airplane....then deal with a baby that never went to sleep that night.

I agree! But I would choose the night flight anyway - I HATE getting up that early.

I said the am flight -thinking there will most likely be delays, but you'll get the effects more at night (there may be no real logic to that, but that's what I think - that the next morning they start again and try to get on track KWIM?)

def the night flight. dc is much more likely to fall asleep in the evening on a dim lit, quiet plane than a morning flight imo

Thanks, I THINK i'm leaning more towards the PM flight since it's so late she has to fall asleep easily right?! Chat Icon I just had a bad experience with our last night flight (7pm) so it's hard to choose that one. Ugh, I don't know.

I would try taking the flight when DD would be the sleepiest. We went to florida a few weeks ago...DD was 9 months old so i don't think this may apply to you...BUT we took a evening flight to FL and DD fell asleep. On the way back we took an afternoon flight, and although DD was great, she wouldn't sit still for one second and did not fall asleep. I was so tired when i got home!

See I think that by taking the pm flight, a baby may be so overtired from being awake until takeoff, that DC wouldn't fall asleep. In the morning, DC might just nap.

I would take the morning flight. I'd rather put ds down early that night if he was tired versus being so tired that he couldn't sleep at night on the plane.

Plus we just flew to aruba and the person at the airport told me that flights are more likely to be delayed or cancelled at night time. Morning flights are never a problem.

IMO i'd rather do the early. Then i'd put ds down for bed early. I know i would have one cranky kid if i tried to keep him up (being at the airport alone would keep him up) until 9:50pm. Chat Icon

I find this to be the case often - the earlier in the day I travel, the more likely I am to take off/land on time.

Both of those days are crazy travel days, I'd think Christmas Eve morning would be better since it's so early...
