Bed issue - Question about mattress thickness and bed rails...

We just set up DS's big boy bed and the rails (Kidco wooden ones) do not come as high as i thought they would or as high as they look in the picture. I think it is b/c the mattress we bought is pretty thick - it is a sealy posturpedic - I didn't even think of this! THese bed rails come pretty high so I don't think it is the bed rails...do i need to return the mattress and get a new one or do you think it is a non-issue -

The Bed Rails come up about 9 inches from the mattress.

TIA!

I would keep everything you have, and as long as DS needs bedrails, just replace the boxspring with a sheet of plywood. The plywood is 1/2 or 3/4 in thick, so you would have plenty of railing height.
As soon as DS doesn't need the railing, take it off, and replace the plywood with the boxspring.

That is part of the issue. We got this railing b/c we are not using a box spring. This is DS's bed and with the boxspring it is too high - it is meant to be used with just the mattress. So its just the mattress that is making the railing not high enough.

I only worry b/c DS is a crazy active sleeper - in a given night he is in 10 different directions spralled out in his crib!
