Re: Bed Sheets
My mom uses her employee discount and sends me sheets from JCPenney. The thread counts are usually 400 and up.
I also bought some from TJ Maxx and Marshall's

I got mine from BB & B... but I bought the 600 thread count sheets and they are thick and soft.
maybe i bought the wrong ones...
i have forgotten which ones i did buy but they are terrible..
I think I bought the 200 thread count and they were thin and cheap feeling but I didnt want to spend a fortune but with sheets I think you really get what you pay for.

Re: Bed Sheets
We have Calvin Klein but only because DH used to work for them. They are crazy $$ IMO but they are sooo soft...
You can get some great quality bedding at HomeGoods and Marshalls. I don't like the stuff I got at BB&B, too scratchy. Also Fortunoff has beautiful bedding...

Re: Bed Sheets
i'm a sheet snob, won't sleep on anything less then 400TC. DH grew up on 200 TC and now he loves nice sheets. Marshalls has some good deals, overstock.com, fortunoffs.

Re: Bed Sheets
I am going to give you guys a little lesson in bedding- I went to school for this
treadcount is a meanless number- the feel and softness of the sheet comes from the finsh of the cotton and the type of cotton used
the bedding industry saw people were reacting to the treadcount number and ran with it
sateen cotton is very soft and it's what I recommend

that makes 1000% SENSE! I have 275 TC sheets that are softer than silk! I also have 600 TC (from overstock.com) that feel like sandpaper
the difference is, the 275 TC is supima cotton brushed finish. WHY did they have to discontinue my favorite sheets!

Re: Bed Sheets
Supmia cotton is very soft- the tread count is the number of treads per inch- so alot of treads of crappy cotton- doesn't make it soft
any number of threads of good cotton is soft
I love supmia cotton- I have towels made from it
