Been looking for a rescue dog
So I posted a little while back asking about recommendations for a rescue. I have seen a few beagles who fit my criteria but I just haven't fallen in love with them.
I think that I am still grieving the loss of my dog who passed in September and I thought finding a new one would help but it's really not and just makes me miss her more.
It doesn't help that everyday my son talks about getting another dog.
Anyone else experience this?

Re: Been looking for a rescue dog
My mother was very much the same way after her collie passed very suddenly at a very young age from cancer. She loved that dog with all her heart and talked about never getting another dog again. My sister and I tried to get her to look into collie puppies we found, and she said she would, sometimes did, but wouldn't follow through. After about a year and a half, my sister and I took it into our own hands. We found a litter of newborn pups and contacted the breeder. Once we presented my mother with the info (my dad was already on board), she reluctantly agreed. She still was apprehensive about it, even after Mookie arrived, but now, she's a total sucker for him. Maybe you just need more time. But I think, regardless, you'd grow to love your new pup- maybe not in the same way, because I truly think they are irreplaceable, but in a new way.
ETA: Now, she's also adopted a teacup pomeranian as well! So much for never getting another dog!

Been looking for a rescue dog
I don't have any information about finding the right dog for you, but I know how it feels to lose your dog and think you could never love another one again. But when that happened to me, my amazingly wonderful vet gave me some perspective that helped me tremendously. I'll never forget her saying to me that getting another dog was not a "betrayal" of your dog that passed, but instead is a way of honoring them - that having them in your life was so wonderful that you cannot imagine not having another dog in your life. It still took me a little while to be "ready" for another dog, but not nearly as long as I though it would take.

Been looking for a rescue dog
So I foster through Last Chance Animal Rescue. We lost one of our own dogs last December. Recently we had a foster that resembled the dog that we lost. Looks, mannerisms, everything. She was such a great dog that my husband even wanted to adopt her ourselves. But as perfect as she was it was a little too strange having her around and made me sad sometimes. So my suggestion to you is maybe you should look into other breeds aside from another beagle. And also don't rush it. If you're not truly ready then no dog will ever give you that connection you're looking for.

Re: Been looking for a rescue dog
Thank you for the responses and support. Maybe I just need a little more time. I think I have been hyper focusing on finding a new dog and need to relax a little in my search.
