Before you first moved into your house
did you have it professionally cleaned, or just did all of the cleaning yourself?
I had planned on doing all the cleaning ourselves (and will either way), but DH was thinking that maybe we should get a prof/crew to do a hardcore cleaning before we move in. Curious what others have done.

I cleaned it along with my MIL, SIL & mom....We all took a floor & scrubbed. I thought it was better for me to do it bc then I knew it was clean to my liking....

We had a cleaning guy come in and do it.
Cleaning up someone elses dirt...there are just some things I'd rather not know about....

I agree. A set of rubber gloves and your elbow grease and you know the house is clean, you know what you did do and didn't do. i think it's better to do it yourself and save the $$$.

We had Stanley Steemer come in and professionally clean all the carpets, everything else I cleaned myself (with my mom's help!)

I did the cleaning myself.
I went to the house during the day and cleaned all day before the furniture arrived.
It's pretty quick to clean when you have no furniture to move around.
Plus, you know what you cleaned and nothing was skipped.

I cleaned myself.. No one cleans like you do.. I needed to pinesol the interiors of the closets and cabinets.. Other peoples smells skeeve me out LOL

the previous owners gutted the whole house and put all new floors/tiles in and never lived in it... so everything was pretty clean - but since everything was new, we just cleaned it ourselves

We cleaned ourselves - with help from the moms too. We were doing so much work (painting, ripping up carpet, etc.) and had to be out of our apartment within 5 days of closing, so there were a lot of late nights!

We cleaned ourselves. We've had a lot of stuff done since then so it looks much better than when we got the house. We closed in June and didn't move in until a month later.

We are ripping up rugs and tearing down paneling. If we weren't doing that I would totally consider getting a professional cleaning crew in to make it spotless.

Cleaned ourselves (who am I kidding; DH didn't clean!). The moms helped a bit. It was disgusting. I don't know that I would have trusted anyone else to do as good a job.

We bought from a builder who redid the whole house so we cleaned it ourselves....but, if I bought from someone who lived here I would hire a cleaning crew.

We did all the cleaning ourselves.
But my advice to you would be first redo any flooring if need be then hire a cleaning crew...I say this simply because you are pregnant and will have enough else to do without dealing with all teh cleaning.
our house was pretty well cleaned by the previous family but I was standing on chairs to clean the cabinet shelves, down on the floor trying to vacuum under appliances etc.....
