Best car seat for travelling?
My DD will be 10 months when we fly transatlantic and I really don't want to bring her infant car seat if I can help it (it's a Peg Perego and soooooo heavy). Is there a good rear-facing convertible car seat that is light but safe? I might end up using it also for our babysitter's car.
Also, do you think I can get away with using a Maclaren stroller at that age or should I bring her regular stroller - the Peg Perego Pliko?

You can get away with using a Maclaren.
The Cosco Scenera is affordable and lightweight.

Re: Best car seat for travelling?
Where are you going?
Honestly, we bought the $40 Cosco Scenera carseat from Walmart (it is very highly safety rated, but it's a no frills seat). It's very light to carry for traveling and my DS was perfectly fine in it. We took it to Disney with us - I used it in the cabs to and from the airport, on the plane, and in our car rental in Florida. I practiced how to secure it in the car on our own car before we went on vacation so that I could do it quickly and easily for the cabs etc.
I traveled again with it when he was about 19 months old and same thing - easy peasy. It's now our backup/travel seat.

We're going to Ireland and now it looks like my teenage niece is coming with us so I want to travel as light as possible so I can keep an eye on everyone.
It sounds like this Cosco Scenera car seat is the one to get. I will be happier bringing the Maclaren stroller too cause I have a rain cover for that and I know I will definitely need a rain cover for this trip!
