Re: best child beaches in Town of Huntington
I am moving there in August but my parents live there now so we've been to a few. Usually we go to Goldstar Batalian (sp?) Beach or something like that. It's small and manageable and has a little playground as well. I'd love to hear other great beaches from some locals!

Re: best child beaches in Town of Huntington
We go to West Neck b/c it's small, and the parking lot is literally RIGHT next to the beach, so I don't have to lug all my crap from miles away. There are a lot of rocks though.

Crab Meadow beach in Northport. Parking is right there, there is a decent sized playground and a pizza restaurant (serving ices/ice cream too!) right there.

Re: best child beaches in Town of Huntington
I practically grew up on Centerport Beach. Taught swimming lessons there for the town when I was in HS and college too. It's a great, family friendly beach but the playground is on the other side of the parking lot.
Fleets Cove is a good one b/c the playground is right there, as is Crab Meadow.
Asharoken and Hobart are good in that they don't get terribly crowded. Hobart can be dicey though if you go on the Sound side. Steep and quick drop off.
West Neck is good, as Devon said b/c the parking lot is right there and you don't need to walk very far to the sand regardless of where you park.
Goldstar is ok...I'm not a fan b/c by the end of the summer, they usually have oil booms up to keep the marine oil from coming into the swimming area.
Crescent Beach is also a good one if you are looking for more of a private beach. it's essentially hidden and really is more of a neighborhood beach b/c no one knows about it.
Edited...not Centershore, its Fleets Cove. duh. Mind is mush today.

Crab Meadow, Centerport and West Neck.
Same. Last year we were at Centerport several times a week. DS was so little and he just slept in the shade while I soaked up the sun. Ahhh. This year is going to be very different, I don't think I will be doing any relaxing.
Oh and I would love to do a gtg!

If you take Cove Road away from the Village, you'd make a left onto Crescent Beach Drive.
Here's a link to the google map. Hope that comes out.

Ha! Yes, with a 2 y/o DD I don't anticipate doing any relaxing either.
I can do 7/22! We won't be moving until August but go out to stay with my parents many weekends so a Friday would work for me.

Re: best child beaches in Town of Huntington
I would definitely do a town of Huntington beach gtg! I was at Centerport earlier today with DS. He had so much fun!
You ladies just say where and when!
ETA: My babysitter is here and she suggested Fleet's Cove beach. Haven't been there yet but there is a playground and she said it's never crowded!

I think it's technically Huntington Bay.
If you drive down 110 all the way to the end by the firehouse and hang a right there, Youngs Hill Road (that hill) becomes Cove Road. Take it over Huntington Bay Road, going on for maybe another mile or two (not sure, can never calculate distance too well), and Crescent Beach Rd will be on your left. You are practically down into the Knollwood Beach/Fleets Cove Beach section of Centerport when you get to it.
You could also go all the way down 25A to Washington Drive, hang a left onto Fleets Cove Rd and head up that way too.
Hope I haven't confused you further!
