I thought I remembered reading somewhere that the owner (Rhona Silver?) was the one building the condos there...or she sold it for that purpose?

I got married there in 2002 and the food and the atmosphere were AMAZING. We went to about 10 catering halls before deciding on HTH, and it was by FAR the best in terms of service, food, and atmosphere. Long Island is truly losing something special in my opinion.

Re: Huntington Town house maybe closing?

It is closing as of April 1. An organization I'm in had a booking there for April 22 and they tried to get us to hold the event in March so they wouldn't lose our business. They only notified us 10 days ago and we had the tickets printed, band booked etc., etc. It was really very shady of themChat Icon

I'm delighted that it's now going to be held at Larkfield Manor.

I had my senior prom there in 1989 (OMG, I am so old), so I am a little sad for that reason.....I haven't been there in years...

my parents had their wedding reception there like 35 years ago!

dont care that its closing but i'm upset about the condos. The last thing we need is more congestion in the area.

Rumors were going on for a few years now. I remember posting that I wouldn't mind middle income housing (which I think was the proposal last year) if it went to teachers.

Yeah, it's pretty bad!

It's amazing that it used to be "the place" to get married-- like 30-35 years ago- but still... wow! Chat Icon

it really was *the place* years ago - my parents and 2 uncles were married there in 1980, 1989, and 1993! Chat Icon

I was there in 2005 and was extremely disappointed by what it turned into. It fell so far so fast.

Re: Huntington Town house maybe closing?

It's about time....When I was planning my wedding, the owner's son was so shady....I felt like he was trying to play "Let's Make a Deal" with my wedding. He kept coming back with all kinds of packages to get us to book with them.
