Best day of the week for Bronx zoo?
We're hoping to go this week and are wondering what the best day is. Tuesday is not an option.
Just how busy are Wednesdays? I know it's the donation to get in day and I've heard it gets really packed.

I'd say this Wednesday might be less crowded as its the first day of school and too early for field trips.

We went this past Saturday and it wasn't even that crowded. But if you are looking to do the Dinosaurs walk be aware there is always a wait. People were waiting for 1.5 hour to get in!!!

But they won't go this Wednesday as it's the first day or school/week of school for most kids.
Tomorrow, many kids still have off.
Wed- school is in session for the kids
Thurs and Fri- SChools out for Rosh Hashana...
Looks like the best day to go this week is Wed.

We went on a Saturday this summer and honestly it was not bad at all.
The zoo is pretty big that you really never feel like its so crowded. We got there before they opened, and hit the spots we wanted to see that we knew would get crowded quickly - like the monorail and the children's zoo.
We were there until 4 pm and saw a lot - DS was able to get out of his stroller on walk on his own without us worrying about him getting lost in the crowd.
Our friend took his son on a Wednesday and he said it was horrible. Never again.

Not Wednesday - many schools in the area (not just NYC) don't start back until next week due to the Jewish Holidays.
DH took DS one year on a Weds when school was in session and he wanted to shoot himself - he said it was that bad!!!

Went on a thurs - it was great! Not crowded at all!

We went on this past Sunday. It wasn't TOO bad- but the hours are so short and the lines so long for certain things that we missed out on alot.
We waited 40 minutes for the monorail (waste- half the animals weren't out), 40 minutes for the Dinosaur thing (this was okay), 10 minutes for the carousel. We decided not to wait 40 minutes to see the 4D movie and did the monorail instead.
We missed out on the Gorillas because we took a wrong turn and saw Wild Dogs instead 
If you get food- AVOID the food stands outside the Children's Zoo. Apparently the staff there hasn't learned basic math without a calculator.  It took the cashier 5 minutes (LITERALLY) to figure out what DHs change was when he handed her 4 cents after she had punched in the whole #. He had to tell her what to give him and she refused to pay out until she figured it out herself (she called over someone else to help). I wanted to kick her in the shin.  We only got a soda here. The Crane Cafe was a much better experience
Also- be aware that you may not use strollers in many of the exhibits or lines for things (like the dinosaur tour and the monorai and the carousel and the movie). It makes waiting in line with a toddler pretty miserable.
FYI- I'm over 39 weeks pregnant and it was really humid- so I may have been extra sensitive to some things l

Best day of the week for Bronx zoo?
We went on a monday and I think a tuesday during the summer, both times on beautiful, sunny, cool days and it was not bad at all. We go at opening and stay until around 1 and except for one or two exhibits, it hasn't been crowded at all. I would avoid Wednesday and try Thursday or Friday.
