I have a big dog too, I probobly have been overly cautious with him and the baby (just cuz he is big and doesnt realize it), but I am noticing now that DS is bigger, they really are starting to love each other.
ETA: Is your dog jealous at all? mine is, I think this is why i get sooo cautious.

Max is only jealous when my husband spends time with DS...when I'm with DS or when he wants to cuddle up with DS its fine...I'm beyond cautious with him trust me...I'm kind of worried when DS starts to walk and run around the house...he might get knocked down by Max occasionally.
