best gift you got at your shower...
Hi ladies... Im going to a baby shower next month and want to get the mom to be something different/special. I will get her something from her registry but also wanted to throw in a unique surprise... Anybody get anything at their shower that was wonderful not on a registry?

I wish someone got me a miracle blanket for swaddling!
I recieved some Visa Vanilla gift cards to use anywhere, they came in handy to pick up things anywhere and even for food.

I wish I had registered for the "miracle blanket".
My new gift for baby showers is to get people miracle blankets....even if they didnt register for it...I feel like everyone should just give it a try!!!

And I would add a must have for all new mommies in my opinion is the Happiest baby on the block book.

I don't know if it was the best gift, but it's something I'd never think to ask for and came in SO handy...a mini-fridge. We kept it upstairs in our bedroom for the middle of the night feedings. We didn't have to run down to the fridge to get a bottle (we used the RTF formula)! We had a little microwave too that we put up there too to heat the bottles. My girlfriend is actually going to borrow it now!

Dh's aunt embroidered burp cloths. I love them and think of her everytime we use them. I loved personal stuff like that.

When it was cold I used to bundle the boys with them and tell them that grandma is hugging them close

I agree, the best gift I got was a blanket my grandmother had made when I got married. She passed away shortly thereafter, and my aunt kept it a secret until my shower. It was amazing, Sarah sleeps with it every night.
Since I can't knit, I like to give Miracle Blankets, and if they are having a girl I like to give some of these hairclips which stay great in thin hair.

Two gorgeous hand made matching toy chest from one of DH's cousins who is a master carpenter.
They are better made and more beautiful than any toy box I could buy in any store.

I have something similar that I got that I loved too...my mom had saved the sweater, hat, blanket and pillow my grandmother crochted for me before I was born. My cousin added blue ribbon (they were all white, didn't know that I was girl 26 years ago) and they are gorgeous, DS wore the sweater home from the hospital, the pillow is on his glider (in his monthly shots) and we are going to use the blanket this weekend for pictures
If you are looking for something practical, then I would say my Bjorn. I also wished someone had gotten my boppy, I just bought it myself in the end.

Just knowing that these relatives and friends took the time to do this makes it very special.
A 12 months frame.
