Best Grain-Free food?
Hi everyone... We have a 1 year old male yorkie-poo, Benji. I know that poodles can have sensitive skin and diets, we had a poodle growing up who lived to 16 years old. But I also have an 8 year old Golden retriever (Casey) who eats anything. I have been giving them both the same food (Beneful dry food), but Benji has been constantly scratching lately. I do bathe him every few weeks or so in an oatmeal-based shampoo. But I think he needs to also be on a grain-free food, based on research I've been doing.
Can anyone recommend a good brand? (Maybe even one that won't break the bank?) Or the best store or website to buy it? Thanks!

Re: Best Grain-Free food?
Wellness Core or if you can find Orijen that would be even better... Sensitive means no Chicken in your dogs diet...

Re: Best Grain-Free food?
Jen - we use Wellness Core. Lilly has been on it for years and does really well on it. The grains that are typically used as filler in dog food caused her allergies to flare up. This is the one food that she's tolerated very well.
As far as "no chicken" in order to be considered pasrt of a sensitive diet - I've never heard of that. I do know that there are some companies that offer a different protein other than chicken - Natural Balance offers duck, salmon, venison or lamb varieties.

I like solid gold, Blue buffalo and Wellness. My dog did not do well on Wellness core he did much better on the Wellness Simple line.

I think Blue Buffalo has a new grain free food. I feed mine blue & it seems to agree with them pretty well.

We use Nature's balance which is grain free. They have an array of flavors. My pup loves the chicken & potatoes.
