best hospitals to deliver in?
My sister is in medicine, and wasn't thrilled with the hospital that my current OBGYN is afficilated with. What hospital did you deliver in? Was it a good experience? What did you like/dislike about the hospital staff? TIA!

Chanel!? Nice.
I am delivering at Overlook in NJ. Supposed to be one of the best in the state. I think are a few ladies on here who delivered there already...

Re: best hospitals to deliver in?
I delivered at South Nassau (DS#2) and will be delivering again DC#3 there as well. I was living in Putam when we had DS#1 and delivered at Hudson Valley Medical Center. I a wonderful experience at both hospitals and look forward to delievering at South Nassau again.
Just wanted to add that I loved having my own room. I thought the delivery rooms and hospital rooms were really nice. The nurses were fine. I didn't have an unfriendly nurse at all. I felt that I had privacy but when I needed someone they came right away.
My ONLY reservation was that I did not want an epi and felt VERY pressured by one of the nurses to get one. Thankfully my husband knew my wishes and kept me strong.

I'll be delivering at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore (it's a NSLIJ). My seven nephews were delivered there with no problems. My brother and I were delivered there and my dad!

Re: best hospitals to deliver in?
I will be delivering at either Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre or South Nassau. It all depends on if I go into labor before anyone else.
Two of my nephews were born at Mercy & my SIL had a great experience.

I will be at North Shore-Manhasset. From what I heard, they are rennovating and converting to all private rooms with flat screen TV's.

DH is an administrator for NY Presby system and wanted me to go to Cornell or Columbia ........but I didn't want to leave my Dr. -

Re: best hospitals to deliver in?
I delivered in South Side (Bayshore) and I loved it. the rooms were great (had a private one), the nurses were so nice, and they had a great food buffet for every meal. if/when I have more kids I will definetly deliver there again.

I delivered there and was not the biggest fan! The nurses were super nice, but it was overcrowded and not at all conducive to resting and recouping. I slept maybe 3 hours the entire time I was there!

Re: best hospitals to deliver in?
DW delivered both DC at Stony Brook. They have one of the best NICU centers there, just in case... (DS needed a little time in the NICU actually)

Re: best hospitals to deliver in?
I delivered both DC (both C-sections, so 4 day stays) at Winthrop. No complaints! The nurses were great, the food isn't bad (for hospital food!) and I got a private room both times so no issues about sharing.

That is awesome news about them rennovating. When is that supposed to happen?
I'm delivering here as well for the same reason I love my OBGYN and that's the hospital he's affiliated with, it's a commute for me b/c we live in Westchester, but my parents are still in LI, so it's still convenient.

Re: best hospitals to deliver in?
Delivered at LIJ and had a wonderful experience. If you deliver vaginally though, I think you are most likely going to be in a 4-person room (won't necessarily be all full though) unless you pay for a private room.
My SIL and friend just delivered there. Both were C-sections. My SIL had a private room because the babies are in the NICU. My friend was in a double.
Nursing staff and residents were wonderful.
