Do any of these that you guys listed serve a white sauce with chips and salsa? Not cheese, I have no idea how to explain it, lol. When we liced in VA all the mexican restaurants served it, my dh craves it.

I wouldn't recommend Del Fuego in Babylon. The food was very good, but the service was atrocious. Everything was rushed out. Our main course came within a couple of minutes of our appetizers.

I was going to suggest Maria's, but I thought it was more Spanish than Mexican. In any case, it really is fantastic!

Viva La Vida in Oakdale.
I haven't seen that white sauce EVER in NY, but I do know what you are talking about. Had it in CA and Mexico, of course.

I almost feel like every Mexican restaurant out there is exactly the same and pretty mediocre.
For my money, I enjoy a nice evening at Taco Bell

Are you talking about queso dip?
No. It is not cheese based. It is literally called white sauce

1 cup Miracle Whip 1/4 cup ranch dressing 1/2 cupmilk 1/2 teaspoonoregano 1 1/2 teaspoonsgarlic powder 1 1/2 teaspoonscumin 1 1/2 teaspoonscrushed red pepper flakes 1 dashcayenne pepper (to taste depending on how you like it, but it doesn't take much!)

Def NOT what I was thinking of, LOL. What I had was a salsa type food, sans tomatoes.

I love Viva La Vida! But I think it's more Spanish than Mexican. Think Paella, etc

Re: the white sauce
My friend talks about this stuff.... Apparently at On the Border (in Hicksville, don't know where other locations are), they serve something called "sour cream sauce". They use it on certain enchilada dishes I think, but if you ask for it, they'll give you a bowl with your chips and salsa.
Maybe that's it?
