Best News Ever!!!!!!!
So, I haven't been posting too much this past week because I had the biggest scare ever. Last Tuesday, I had my 2nd dr's appointment. He did the sono, and we saw a heartbeat, and gave me my due date - 12/21. We were so excited. Then he looks at my bloodwork, and his face changed. I'm a carrier for Tay Sachs disease. So DH had to get blood work done, and we had to wait a whole torturous week for the results, and THANK GD, he is NOT a carrier as well.
There are no words to express how I feel right now. After I got off the phone with the nurse, DH and I were hugging and crying and laughing. It feels so real now. Until now, we were scared to be excited. Just had to share. Thanks for listening.

Does that mean you both have to be a carrier for baby to be at risk? I've not heard of that disease.

Tay Sachs is a disease that is rare, and is predominately found in Jewish people of Eastern European decent. Its a horrific degenerative disease - most children don't live past 5 years old.
Its like a recessive trait - If one parent is a carrier and the other isn't, the child is not at risk at all, but has a 50% chance of being a carrier. If both parents are carriers, there is a 25% chance that the child will have the disease, 50% chance he/she will be a carrier, and 25% chance that they won't inherit the gene at all. Usually, just one parent is tested, if the test is negative, there is no need for the other to be tested. When I found out I was a carrier, I immediately flipped out and was devastated. Then I called my sister, who has a perfect 2 year old son, and asked her if she was ever tested - she wasn't because her husband was. My BIL got tested because his sister is a carrier - but he wasn't. I asked my mom if she was ever tested, and she said no, my dad was, so I guess my mom was the carrier.
Anyway, one in 30 Ashkenazi Jews is a carrier. The number of carriers are way less in other populations. Thank Gd it is such a rare disease.
Thank you all of you for your support. I can't tell you how happy I am, and how nice it is to have people to talk to about everything since I'm not telling the world until after the 1st trimester is completed.

Okay... now I remember. Being in our first visit interview, when they were running through the list of genetic diseases, she stuck in "of Jewish decent", which DH is and I'm not and I was like what has that got to do with being mixed in with all those diseases?! 
So sorry you had such a week but so glad everything worked out great and you'll not have to have concern for any future pregnancies.

Ohh Im so Happy that your DH wasnt a Carrier...
My Best friend had very had 3 months she and her DH are bother carriers to the Tay Sachs disease so she had to have a genetic test done with a Needle in her Tummy they had a 25% chance that their child would have it but THANK GOD the baby is only a Carrier like them and is Healthy so she could Keep it .. I could only Imagine the scare you had
