Best oil company for service?
We just bought our house and need to start oil deliveries by next week. The house is South Shore Nassau.
The house has a 58 year old boiler (!!!!) so C.O.D. is not an option. We need a service contract. The owners had used General and were very happy with their service, but I've heard so many negative things about them on this board.
So, going by service alone - time it takes for them to show up, how well they explain things, how quickly and well they finish - which oil company do you recommend?

We have General - for the past 3 or 4 years. Their techs are the best out there, but their customer service suxxxx. I will be moving on after we use 800 gallons that we have left in our contract.

Our boiler is literally from 1951 so good techs are the most important thing to me. Is the customer service so bad that I should cross them off my list?

I use Perillo Bros for my service. My oil burner is 50+ years old and we ahve had them in 2xs so far and both times they came in less than an hour. They are actually here right now installing a new thermostat cause mine went bad

Oh wow, weird coincidence! I've heard of them because I work in Farmingdale and I've definitely seen their trucks around. I'll call them tomorrow.

Ok thanks, then it's worth a call.
I've tried Tragar and General so far and their rates & service plans were pretty close, Tragar's being a bit more expensive on both.

FYI -
i signed with slomins for 2.64 that includes the contract.
you could lock in at 2.54 and pay 100.00 for a contract. contracts have limitation to them.
and, my dad's best friend worked for petro for years and years and years, and my grandfather retired from that company.
let all the companies know when you call them that you are pricing out companies and not signing until you find the best deal for oil AND contract price...

Liking Meenan right now. Excellent customer service. I have an old house with a steam heat system and older boiler. I can never do COD.

We have a 58 boiler and do COD we have a contract with Standard, whom we are happy with, and im rarely "happy" lol
