DSs first shoes were Stride Rites bought at the Outlet in Deer Park. He started walking prior to 11 months and at 16 months he is just outgrowing these shoes.

They were much cheaper at the outlet than the store.

Also try Famous Footwear, I saw a lot of nice kids shoes at the one in the Source.

I never put shoes on DS until he started standing on his own and getting ready to walk. I just thought it was a waste and a hassle to buy shoes if he didn't need them and also heard that it was better for them with learning to walk if they went without shoes. I put slippers on him in the car to keep his feet warm in the winter.

I got the Stride Rites. I wanted good support, but something that was flexible enough for him to learn to walk in. We only bought one pair to begin with, though. We'll probably get some kind of sandals for the summer and then the next pair of shoes in the fall when he grows out of these.
