Betsy Fitzsimmons- midwife rec?

Betsy is one of the two midwifes at the practice I go to. Ob/gyn services of rockville centre. There is one other one there but I personally don't like her. I haven't decided if I am going to stay with this practice or go somwhere else. I just called to get an appointment to remove my IUD in the next month and I want to meet with the midwives and see if I will really get the midwife for delivery or who ever is on call.

Any experience with her?

I am too far away to use stony brook and I am avoiding the one that I have heard bad things about on this board. I live in Bellmore and I am considering calling Gaia midwives also. I also might call Jeannett Breen and Linda Jaworowski. Any preferences here? I want to switch to a midwife for all my gyn care since we will be TTC in early July.

I see Linda in Valley Stream. She's really nice & you can always get an appt but I've noticed that her approach is more like that of a dr. For all of my 4-wk appts, I only see her for a few minutes each time (I guess that's normal) but she doesn't really explain things unless you ask. Overall, I like her.

I am not preggo yet, however, TTC. And I also switched from an OB/GYN to a midwife. Fist one I went to was Anita in Massapequa. Can't quite complain about her, just something wasn't right for me.

Since then I've begun going to Barbara Charles, CNM. She has 2 offices (East Meadow and Huntington) and is a affiliated with a couple of hospitals.

So far I have nothing but NICE things to say about her. Appointments have been a breeze in making, and she seems as though she will do anything for her patients.

Although, she is very holistic so beware. Doesn't bother me since I am treading along the holistic lines anyway.

My Doula highly recommends Barabara Charles too - she has a ton of experience and an excellent reputation, except for one poster on this board who had a bad experience with her. She shares an office with my chiropractor and all her patients love her. I would have used her but I am high risk and have to see an OB.
