Betta fish?

I have a betta fish that DH gave me for Xmas last year. Well DH didn't take care of him the way he should have when I was away. Now he it look like he is having a heard time breathing & he sitting on his tail on the bottom of the tank. Or he is stuck in a corner at the top of the water line just hanging out.

I don't know what to do for him. Can anyone help me? I have changed this water 2 times. He doesn't seem to be getting better. Poor fish.

Re: Betta fish?

he is dying. Since you changed the water that is the best you can really do. You will probably only have a day or two of this. Most large betas you buy are fully grown and only have a year or two life in them. Sometimes if your lucky you get three.

Re: Betta fish?

Sorry he passed, but I have to disagree with the fact that they only live a year or so after you buy them. My SIL had one for 4 years and my friend had one for 5-6 years....
The biggest thing to be aware of is to either let the water sit for 48 hours before changing it or use a conditioner to remove the clorine. If you change their water with fresh tap, the chlorine shocks them and it takes while for them to recover...
