Better way to organize papers in kitchen?

Do you have any DIY suggestions or even recommendations on a product I can buy to organize the papers & mail that mounts on my kitchen counter? I was thinking about getting one of those letter sorter things that hang on the wall; but does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm just tired of having tons of paper on my counter and a lot of it is things that we need to I can't just throw them out. I already have one drawer full of menus and coupons so if i can find a great kitchen organizer that would be a life saver!

how about a magazine rack for the papers? We use one for papers and magazines and it keeps things neat.

As for mail, a sorter would work well!

where do you keep your magazine rack? On the floor in the corner; or do you have it on your counter?

I have an emtpy wall; it's perpindicular to a row of cabinets (so the doos open to the wall and i can't put any furniture on the floor in front of it) but i could put something on the wall.

I would honestly invest in a file cabinet if you do not already own one. Set a day to go through the paperwork and write your checks for bills and set them up to be mailed, throw out the junk papers, buy a coupon holder for your coupons and sort them and then take whatever else you have that cannot be filed, thrown away or whatever and put it in a folder, away in a drawer, until a further time when you can either use what's in there or throw it out! That's the system I've adopted and it's great!!!!! Hope that helps you!

Fiel cabinets and the accordian binders are great. You can get some cute accordian binders at Target or stationary store if you want it to sit on a shelf that is visible.

I keep a file tote in the kitchen and have everything organized in there. I picked this one up on Amazon (by Galison) and they have other cute designs.

I got a large accordion folder for coupons. I got through it before we go shopping each time. It has helped me save $ and it keeps me organized. I got a a paper shredder - any document that comes into the house with sensitive info that is not vital to keep gets shredded. I make a point of going through the mail every day. I immediately toss all trash. Envelopes are trashed. Magazines are put into recycling. If there is an article I like, I will tear it out of the magazine and put it into a special folder.

Take out menus are in a huge zip lock in my junk drawer. I also have a small accordion folder in the junk drawer for business cards. I usually have a small pile of papers, but monthly I go through it and discard or file what has made the pile.
