BF Mommies - Do you give your DC vitamins? What age did you start?
And was it on the ped's recc? My DS is 4 mo and the ped has never mentioned vitamins. A friend mentioned this and I'm not sure if the ped should have recc to us?

Yes I do. My dr. suggested we give DD vitamins at our first appt after I gave birth. He said that there are some vitamins that breastfed babies dont get(I think Vitamin D??).

Julia was EBF and didn't start on vitamins till she was 8 months old.

when ds was on breastmilk, yes we gave him vitamins, suggested by our ped.
we stopped when he started to eat formula... at the last appointment our ped. suggested starting him on vitamins with fluoride (poly-vi-flor), he is 6 months now...

DS started vitamins after his first ped visit. Vitamin D doesn't get absorbed through the breast milk. He had to keep taking while he was EBF and until he was getting more than 50% formula.

My DD is 8 weeks. My ped mentioned it at first appt. but I forgot about it and didn't start them until this week. It's correct that BFed babies can be vitamin D deficient. It was actually on the today show the other day.

My DD started vitamins at 6 months old as per her ped. recommendation.
OOOps... didn't realize u wanted answers from the BF moms. DD is formula fed.

I didn't when I BF. And actually didn't after either until he was about 15 months old or so.

same here. DD has been onTri-vo-sol since about 1 week old.

Us also they reccommended Tri Vi Sol

DD is 9 months and she just started vitamins. She has been taking only the flouride since 7 months and now it is a combo of both.

Yes, we started DD on vitamins at 6 months. She's been taking them ever since.

we started with tri vi sol at 2 months
then went to poly vi sol with flouride
