BF Mom's-anyone's DC have a low hemoglobin count?
We came from the pediatrician a little while ago and DD has a low count. He asked if there was a family history of mediterranean anemia? We aren't able to give her vitamins because she gets a rash so I'm a little worried....
Anybody have experience with this?

Great. I'm the only mother in the world with a child with a low hemoglobin count. Fantastic. Carry on.

Re: BF Mom's-anyone's DC have a low hemoglobin count?
I actually have this, and have since I was little. Basically, I have the trait for thalassimia (which presents as low iron/hemoglobin). When I was little, they used to always give me iron pills, but they never worked, b/c it's not actually my iron that is low.
I don't know yet if I passed it on to DD (she is only 5 months old so she hasnt had tests for it yet), but there is basically nothing that can be done for it as far as I know. And really the only symptoms I've ever experienced are being more tired at times when my hemoglobin is pretty low.
