BF moms- is your DC like alittle clock? (or this can be answered by bottle fed too)

What i find weird is that DS can sleep straight 6 hrs w/o eating and then maybe 3-4 more before waking for the day. But when he wakes up for the day he feeds every 2 hours ON THE DOT!!! He is like a human alarm clock.

How is it that he can go so long over night but then cant go longer than 2 hrs all day long?

And...is there any way to make the time between feeds longer during the day?

Ohhhh yes she was. There is really no way to extend the time between feedings unless DC does it on their own. For FF babies I know sometimes adding ounces to their bottles extends the time but my experience BFing is that it's digested very quickly and they want it when they want it Chat Icon

It was frustrating for me in the beginning because I felt like she was a little accessory, always attached! But then I invested in a good nursing cover and made a point of getting out as much as I could.

even FF...DS is 3 hours ON THE DOT, it's crazy! except at night

ETA: I'm glad he's like this since I can plan my day. I'm not sure how you can extend that while BFing, maybe more awake stimulating time, then he may nap longer?? I have no idea though.

Ditto - except we're at every 4 hours now. Overnight he can go between 6-9 hours.

Chloe did this too, but I was happy! I would rather it was during the day and not at night.

The ped told me that it was her way of getting what she needed and packing in the food during the day. It will definitely get better.

Chloe soon went to 3 then 4 and now she has gone a long time without nursing (im starting to wean her now at 11 months)

Starting cereal did not help night stretches (total myth IMO) but she did go longer during the day. I would BF first because it's more important and then I would give her cereal about 1 1/2 hours later. we started cereal at 4 1/2 months.

luce is so punctual it's almost disturbing.

he eats every 3 hours with the exception of his longest stretch (cluster feeding from about 7:30 to 9 and sleeping from about 9 til about 2 in the morning) from 2 am he is up every 3 hours for his food.

you could calibrate big ben with this kid's stomach.

It's basically a cycle. He's able to go much longer at night b/c he's eating so often during the day. The cluster feeding is necessary for him to be able to sleep longer at night. As he gets older, he'll probably go longer between feedings. By 3 months, DS was nursing every 3-4 hours. He was still waking several times at night though.
