BF moms of older children (or those who weaned)

Aside from pumping less, if you pumped, did you get any feeling that you were losing your milk?

Ryan got REALLY upset at the breast this morning - very frustrated, pulling at them, as if there was nothing in there. I felt awful and wonder if there is less, or not enough?

Anyone experience this with an older DC? (Ryan is 10 + months).

TIA

I've definitely been feeling that I'm producing less for a while. (DD is 13 months) However, for the last two nights I've been leaking out of one side overnight. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Really? Wow? I think my leaking days are over? Any idea what that's about?

I know I've been getting less, but his morning nursing has never been an issue. He was really p!zzed this morning - I literally have scratches on my breasts from him Chat Icon

Is he acting sick at all? He could have an ear infection and maybe it hurts to nurse? I only nurse twice a day and I have no issues.

No, he's actually better than he's been in weeks. He had a cold that has been clearly up and cough went away. And when he was sick he did want to nurse a lot - I assumed for comfort.

Did you eat anything different that may have changed the taste?

No, def. nothing funky in my diet. Chat Icon

I guess I'll have to see if it happens consistently- then I'll be really upset. I'm fine with him self-weaning when he's ready, but I don't want it to be torture for him Chat Icon

What you described is what DS started doing around 6 months oldChat Icon ETA that DS was obviously younger but did similar)

For many months I nursed 2 times day & pumped 2 times & then supplemented the rest with formula.

But just before Christmas he became VERY frustrated in the AM when nursing. It changed to him nursing only a few minutes on each side. I THINK I was starting to produce less (got AF back the month before and pumping was beginning to get delayed at work and I think it all combined wreaked havoc on my supply).

He's been off the breast almost a month now and I gradually stopped pumping 2 weeks ago.

Did you offer him a bottle of pumped milk if/when he got frustrated?
