BF moms: question (sorry TMI)
Today I've developed a pain in my left breast that I have not noticed before. It's pretty far back on the side, almost to where my arm is. The best way I can describe it is it's a constant soreness. So far I've had plenty of pain in my nipples but no where else. I was wondering if anyone knows what this might be? Does it hurt when you have a clogged milk duct? That was one thought I had.

Is the site hot? If not it is most likely a cloggged duct. Apply a warm compress and make sure to have the baby nurse frequently from that side. Feel better

I don't think it's hot so I'll try the warm compress

Do not stop nursing! Try massaging the breast. Even while in the shower you can massage and run some warm water over them. You can use a little olive oil on the breast and nipple as per my lacatation consultant. Hang in there and feel better Nursing can be hard but it is well worth it!

Sounds like a clogged duct. I was told to continue to nurse, massage it & warm compresses.

Thanks for the replies. For those of you who had this and tried the warm compresses, did it hurt when you applied them? Also, in the interest of preventing this in the future, what can cause a clogged milk duct. I read about underwire bras so I've not been wearing them. What other things can do it?

I don't think you can prevent them My DS was a championship nurser He nursed a lot and I still got them, once in a while. I remember one I had really bad and when it finally popped *warning TMI coming* It sprayed out of my nipple like a kids spinkler. I was laughing so hard and I called my friend to make sure it was normal
Feel better
