BF moms- was this bad?

DS got up to feed last night at 12:30am. I changed him and put him back down alittle after 1:30am. He then slept until 5:00am!!!! I ofcourse didnt wake him. He looked and seemed happy and it allowed me to sleep too.

Was this too long to go between feeds? He is having great pees and poops and i can tell is gaining weight (he is filling out in his face so much). Also, my boobs arent so engorged that i have to empty them so....

thoughts?

That's perfectly fine...never wake a sleeping baby. Good for you...I hope it continues

Yup, just fine - at this point I think it's safe to let him take the lead. Hopefully this will lead to even longer stretches in a few weeks! Chat Icon

Re: BF moms- was this bad?

Our ped said it was ok for them to go 6 hrs between feedings at night when they were really little. Of course, that never happened, but the thought of it was nice!

You must feel good after getting that long stretch!

That's great. I remember being nervous the first time my DD slept for a longer period too. I hope you enjoyed the extra sleep!!

Re: BF moms- was this bad?

that's perfectly fine. my ped (who is also an LC) told us that before they reach their birth weight, to not let them go more than 3.5 hours between feedings. once they reach their birth weight, they can sleep as long as they like.

Good for you and him! I wish I didn't wake Santino up so much in the beginning, I think that aided in his 2 hour eating routine!

Re: BF moms- was this bad?

I think thats fine DS slept a lot in the beginning and sometimes for 4-5 hour stretches. I would get engorged and have to pump if he slept that long though....

Re: BF moms- was this bad?

he would wake up if he needed to eat-- also, that helps with the day/night confusion. He'll learn that at night he needs to go for longer stretches without food-- and clearly he seems ok with it!
